When you go to the interview.
When you go to the interview make sure you present yourself well to your prospective employer. This covers the simple things like ironing your clothes, shining your shoes, comb your hair. If your feeling good about how you look, that comes across to those around you. When you meet your interviewers
- Try to be relaxed when you go for an interview, if you behave in a polite relaxed manner people have a tendency to feel comfortable around you.
- When you first meet your employer make sure you smile and maintain a positive outlook throughout your interview.
- Shake hands firmly, but don’t try to crush their hand or give a weak handshake that feels like some kind of damp cloth.
- Try not to cross your arms and legs, as this is a sign that you are feeling defensive.
- Make sure you talk clearly don’t cover your mouth with your hand, chew gum or talk to loudly or quietly.
- Give all of the people at the interview, good eye contact.
- When sitting be attentive leaning slightly forward and upright.
- At the end of the interview, ask the interviewer how long you should expect to wait to hear from them.
The interview is over, now what?
Make sure you think about how the interview went, write down anything you feel didn’t go to plan, so you can refer back, if you need to. Keep looking for, and applying to, jobs that you would like, so that you don’t waste time, waiting for a reply from the first company. If you don’t get the job, look at how you were in the interview, but don’t take it personally there are lots of jobs out their and you will find the right job for you. Keep trying and don’t loose heart.
