Job Description
Quality Manager - Engineering - Permanent – South Somerset.
Great salary plus bonus and 33 days holiday

Smart Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a global manufacturing company in South Somerset. We are seeking somebody to head up the company’s Quality Department, ensuring best practice internally, building and leading the quality team, and delivering expertise with regards customer visits.
Main duties to include:
Manage and develop a Quality Team (currently at 3 headcount with plans to grow it)
Driving a quality culture, working with a young team – introducing skills, lean tools and regulatory topics.
Supporting the Quality team with tools such as FMEA, 8D, 5Y, Gauge R & R Control Plans and 6 Sigma.
To carry out and manage contract reviews.

To maintain the BSI/Quality System, ISO 9001 and UKAS accreditation laboratory procedures and properties.
Other duties:
• Own subcontract testing.
• Own, organise and report out on quality alerts and stop work orders.
• Ensure the business meets/exceeds regulatory requirements, customers’ expectations / specifications and group standards.
• Provide leadership and expertise to maintain and improve ISO 9001, implement new standards into practice as required.
• Set and enforce quality levels in production to ensure product quality.
• Measure, track and communicate quality KPI’s to management. (customer credits, number of complaints, returns, first pass yield etc)
• Support continuous improvement.
• Ensure organization of inspection – receiving, in-process and final inspection.
• Challenge and drive supplier quality.
• Be the voice of the customer. Develop and run quality relationships/communications – internal and external with customers/third parties.
• Challenge customer returns / complaints as required, drive RCA through structured processes to root cause.
• Oversee internal quality / inspection areas with dotted line of responsibility to production operators in process such as X-Ray, FPI.
• Improve quality systems throughout the business. Drive production quality levels identifying and implementing improvement
You will be reporting directly to the Managing Director, and will have key relationships to build with Production, Sales, and Technical managers internally, and Suppliers and Customers externally. This will require international travel approx. once a month.
We are seeking candidates with a good grounding in Managing a QMS within a heavy industry / industrial setting, and candidates who have the communication skills to build effective internal and external relationships
